Member Spotlight: Lauren M.
When you join Ad 2 Hawaii you never really know who you’re going to meet or where you’re going to end up. For me, I ended up working in video production with Kinetic Productions, doing what I never thought I could do.
I was first introduced to Ad 2 through Hawaii Pacific University when Ad 2 members came speak to my class about the organization and what we can gain from joining. From then on, I knew I was going to join Ad 2 and be like those members who spoke to me.
MY FIRST COMMITTEE
After graduating HPU, I signed up, joined the Communications and Public Service committees and formed connections with the members.
As part of the Public Service committee, I was able to help form the campaign for that year’s nonprofit client. Being that I love video production, I showed up on set the day Ad 2 was shooting the commercial for the local nonprofit, and that’s where I met James Sereno from Kinetic Productions. It led to a lunch with Director Ryan Kawamoto, which led to an internship, which led to me being employed with Kinetic!

A YEAR LATER
Now, I do what I love; editing videos, being behind the camera, and running around on commercial shoots. For a long time I thought a job in video production could never be a reality for me. But through Ad 2 and the power of networking, I was able to meet the right people and began my career doing what I love.
My hope is that young adults join Ad 2, get out to the events and find what they’re looking for like I did.
ABOUT Lauren
Lauren Martinez is currently a Production Assistant at Kinetic Productions in Honolulu, Hawaii. She graduated from Hawaii Pacific University with a BS in Mass Communication and minor in Multimedia. When she’s not working, Lauren loves running, watching HGTV and the cooking channel, and traveling. Iceland is at the top of her “places to visit one day” list!
